The celebration of life will be held at the Mt. Pleasant Cemetery in London, Ontario on July 16, 2022 from 10 am to 12 noon. The address is 303 Riverside Dr, London, ON N6H 1G2(nee Dixon)With heavy hearts we announce the sudden passing of Laurie on May 24, 2022, at 65 years of age. Laurie was the beloved wife of 45 years to Richard Emerson of Ruthven. She was the daughter of Lawrence and Jacalyn Dixon (nee Thompson) and daughter-in-law to Donald and Sylvia Dimmel (nee Carter), all of London. She was the loving mother of Brandon Richard of Ayr and Stephanie Lauren of Cottam, and mother-in-law to their spouses, Brieanne McConnell and Scott McIntosh. She will forever be remembered as the treasured grandma of Violet and Rowan Dimmel-McIntosh and Brady Dimmel. She was the sister of Tim Dixon and sister-in-law of Michelle Dixon, Bruce and Donna Dimmel, and Nancy Row. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.Laurie was predeceased by her mother, Jackie, father-in-law Donald, and many beloved cats and dogs. Laurie was a talented baker and avid reader who loved a good ghost story. As a child, she enjoyed traveling with her family and visiting relatives in Tennessee. Later in life, she spent many years providing care, patience, and compassion as a stay-at-home parent. Laurie held the threads of her family together by providing mental and emotional support to her children and husband. Laurie was always available for a calming chat and was the very definition of an animal lover, providing a stable home to many, many rescue animals over the course of her life. She will be remembered as a quiet, humble, and caring person. Cremation has taken place. A celebration of life will be held in the future. Donations may be made to the Windsor Humane Society.
