Obituary for Howard Martin

Passed away peacefully with family by his side at the Erie Shores Hospice on July 24, 2022. Howard achieved his mission to celebrate his 90th birthday in style while surrounded by his family. Beloved husband of Kathy and the late Rita Martin (nee Matthe). Loving father of Patti Martin (Jim), Charlene Shaheen (Joe), and the late Ken Martin (Carol). Second father of Christine Lui (Ray), Mary Beth Taylor (Mel), David Ducharme (Mona), and Nicole Ducharme. Cherished grandpa of Sarah, Kelly, Colin, Jeff, Dawn, Brett, Matthew, Hanna, Kayla, Justin, Jessie, Samantha, Harrison, and Hayden. Great grandpa of Mikayla, Liam, Madison, Isla, Emmett, and Nathan. Brother of the late Jean Hermann (late Tony) and the late Irene Roback (Jim). Brother-in-law of the late Joyce Gignac (late Mark), Marilyn Molton (late Doug), Beverly Dywelska (Mike), Jerry Goyeau (Marie), and Chris Goyeau (Pam). Also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Howard retired from Ford Motor Company after many years of service. He was a dedicated member of the Knights of Columbus # 3305- Essex; 4th Degree Fr. Alvin P. Marentette Assembly # 2097.Howard was a resident of Essex for 59 years where he served the community in many ways such as Meals on Wheels and the Essex Area Foodbank. He was a jack of all trades but a master of carpentry. Howard shared his loving big heart and talents with his whole family, many friends and anyone who had the time to listen to his stories. Special thanks to the endearing staff of Erie Shores Hospice for the comfort and care they provided during his last weeks. Howard loved you just as much as you loved him.

Howard is resting at the Kennedy Funeral Home Ltd. (519-776-7378) 128 Talbot St. North, Essex on Tuesday from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Parish and K of C prayers Tuesday 7 p.m. On Wednesday, family and friends are invited to gather at the Holy Name of Jesus Parish (146 Talbot St. S, Essex) after 9:30 a.m. followed by the funeral mass at 10:30 a.m. Interment Greenlawn Memorial Gardens.
