Obituary for Harold Scratch
(Hank) Scratch
With deep sadness and heavy hearts we announce the sudden passing of our beloved father and grandfather on 21 Aug 2022 at the age of 89. Dad is reunited with his true love of 46 years Jane (Red) Whitson whom we lost in 2000. He will be missed greatly by his daughters Lindy Masse (Dennis), Brenda Ryall (Edward) and Shelley Laramie. Special father to Shane Renaud (Magda). Grandfather to Stephen, Kenneth, Jason (Tiffany), Jonathan (Sarah), Nathan (Sarah) and Sara. Great Grandfather to Thea and Sophie. Harold worked for 31 years at General Motors and served his community as a firefighter in Essex retiring as Fire Chief in 1990. Harold and Jane nurtured many foster children making a difference in everyone’s lives. Harold loved reading, old time movies and feeding his birds but mostly being there for his family. He was our pillar of strength and lifetime example of a caring thoughtful and supportive father whom we all loved. Words cannot express how heartbroken we all feel at this time but our many happy memories will keep him with us always. Heartfelt thanks to all the Doctors and nurses who took such good care of Dad all these years.
Cremation has taken place with a private Celebration of Life planed for the future. Expressions of sympathy can be made to the Canadian Cancer Society, the Heart and Stroke Foundation or the Essex County Humane Society.
