We are heartbroken to announce the unexpected passing of our beloved father and husband Doug on February 10, 2023, at 72 years of age. Son of Donna Johnston (late William-1969) and the late Ernest Kelly (2018). Beloved husband of Tammy Robert. Treasured father of Christine Johnston (Scott), Scott Johnston (Jodi), Matthew Johnston (Shelley) and Jessica Morency (Johnny). Super Papa of Abigael, Laurel, Conlan, Maeve; Joshua, Audrey; Johnny, Julianna. Brother of Ron (Bonnie), Terry, late Tom (Lori), Judy (Ken) and Todd (Sandy). Son-in-law of Don and Carol Robert. Brother-in-law of Donald Robert and LeeAnn. Also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Doug was our hero, our rock! He was as solid as they come, and his word was as good as gold. He was a dedicated father and papa and passed on his love of sports and music to all of us. He spent countless hours teaching us the basics and coaching our teams. He was a hands-on dad and taught us many life lessons. Besides how to use a hammer and measuring tape he taught us to work hard, to value every $1 earned and to stand up for yourself. He taught us how to laugh at ourselves and not always take life so seriously.

As a papa he enjoyed cheering on his grandchildren at swim meets, hockey, baseball and soccer games, recitals, and concerts. He had a special connection with each of them and never missed a birthday. He was our constant.

Doug was in the Tool and Mold trade for over 50 years. He worked at International Tool, and Binder Tool and Mold before being recruited to Hallmark Tools. Where he was one of the first employees and worked along a great crew of guys, until his retirement. On occasion, he would come out of retirement to provide assistance to his brother at The IKON Group.

In his spare time he liked to build and repair Harley’s and go on road trips. He also enjoyed helping out family and friends whenever they needed him. He was a ‘Jack of all trades’ and master of every single one. To say that he will be missed is an understatement. His smile, his laughter, his quick wit but most importantly his love will live on in all of us. He was one of a kind!
